Battlefield 2 patch 1.5 coming Tuesday September 1st

After nearly a year of development and three public beta tests Battlefield 2 v1.50 is ready for release. The update will be released on Tuesday 1st September at 6pm Europe.

As part of Update 1.50 we are glad to announce that not only is Highway Tampa now a required install included in the update but Euro Forces (Great Wall, Taraba Quarry and Operation Smoke Screen) and Armored Fury (Midnight Sun, Operation Harvest and Operation Road Rage) is now FREE for all Battlefield 2 players. Including the brand new map, Operation Blue Pearl this brings EIGHT new maps that everyone can play and will be added to ranked Battlefield 2 servers world wide. The Booster Pack content is included in the update and has made the file just over 2Gb in size.

Server providers around the world will have access to the client file so find your closest host for best download speeds. To install Battlefield 2 Update v1.50 you must have Battlefield 2 updated to version 1.41 or Battlefield 2 Complete Collection from EA Store installed. Thank you to all of the EAUK Forums (http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-2/) members who have given feedback and requests during the development of this update. The full change log for Update 1.50 is as follows:

Nice of them to add Euro Forces/Armoured Fury for free, that's very good of them

There are a lot of fixes, I'll see if I can find the list of them - the one I'm most interested in is they say they have fixed the laggy hitboxes which should mean no more random shooting around corners.

Edit: Fix list from Beta 3 which I believe is the most recent.

Quote:

• Made some more tweaks to J10 handling to even its balance against other jets. - Fixed
• Hit detection is better but only for those on low pings - We have seen some improvement from the closed beta results but let us know what you think.
• Sand bags have â€glass†effect in Operation Blue Pearl - In Test
• Operation Blue Pearl is missing UAV ability - Fixed
• Clicking on JOIN or double clicking a server occasionally resets the game back to server browser - Fixed
• Occasional connection drops after being on a server a couple of minutes - Fixed
• Consensus to reduce grenades per kit - Will not be changed
• Consensus to revert to 0.3 second delay between jump and prone - Fixed
• Crashes when changing Falcon settings sometimes. - Fixed
• YASU causes conflict with BF2.exe preventing the game from running - In Test
• Commander assets do not always fire/work - Fixed
• Mouse wheel acceleration on jeeps and APC’s - In Test
• Mouse wheel acceleration on parachutes - In Test
• Widescreen, FOV doesn’t change - Not changed at this time
• Unable to exit static anti tank in OBP - Fixed
• Falcon controller prevents joystick controls being assigned to work especially on jets and helicopters. Falcon always acts as primary controller for pitch and roll. Resets to Falcon at the start of every round. - Fixed
• The jets on Highway Tampa were replaced with attack choppers in 1.50 - Fixed, Highway Tampa is now as it was in 1.41
• The graphics for Highway Tampa are the same as Mashtuur City on create a local match in the menu and load screen. - Fixed
• Spotting as Commander doesn’t always work, closing Commander screen and re-opening solves this - Investigating
• Picking up the kit of a player who disconnected causes crashes - Fixed
• Audio settings do not always save after clicking APPLY - Fixed
• Registry Version remains at 1.4 after Update 1.5 is installed - Fixed
• Community/Custom games shows BF2 and Special Forces as version 1.4 instead of 1.5 - Fixed but didnt make it to Beta 3
• BF2OpenAL.dll was version 1.1.1.0 - Fixed - Updated to version 2.1.8.1
• ch_gas_station collision mesh on Dragon Valley was inconsistent with other gas station buildings - Fixed
• MEC artillery piece on Operation Clean Sweep changes to the USMC's control when they capture the Airfield flag - Fixed
• Challenger2 HUD icon was incorrect showing M1A2 HUD icon instead - Fixed
• Road to Jalalabad has PLA FAV spawn in place of a MEC FAV - Fixed
• Dragon Valley Chinese artillery used default respawn time instead of 360 seconds as other artillery uses - Fixed
• Bizon (PP-19) had no delay time after weapon switch - Fixed (this now has a delay of 0.666)
• F35B had a lock delay of 1.5 compared to 1 second lock delay of other aircraft - Fixed
• Incorrect camo Humvee was being spawned in Taraba Quarry - Fixed
• UH-60 (Black Hawk) guns had 0.25 splash damage setting, down from 3 making it difficult to hit infantry. - Fixed (this is now set to 1.5 to improve the UH-60's usefulness while not allowing it to dominate)
• It was impossible to pass a claymore unless an engineer disarmed it first. - Fixed (players can now go prone to pass the claymore)
• Allow BF2.exe to use more than 2Gb RAM on machines that support it - Fixed
• Modify HUD in TV guided missile view that makes viewing difficult on maps like Dragon Valley - Fixed
• Army hardware takes too long to spawn on Wake Island - Investigating
• Mouse control didn't work in Special Forces - Fixed
• Falcon controls overwrote on every map load in Special Forces - Fixed
• Highway Tampa crashes at 14% - Fixed
• Added Battlefield 2142 style prone deviation - Fixed (going prone will now cause reduced accuracy for a brief period the same system BF2142 uses)

I might be reinstalling Battlefield 2, the good thing is that I won't have to reinstall EA Download Manager just to download and install Euro Forces and Armored Fury since they'll be included in the patch. I stopped playing BF2 about two years ago thinking that BF3 was right around the corner lol!

Dude ***? I paid for Armored Fury and Euro Force, I say EA should re-credit my Downloader Account so I could that $20 on something else.

Why is that? Did you not get what you wanted?

With them adding the booster maps in so all ranked servers can play them it has me really excited. I played BF2 solidly for 3 and a half years thinking I was done, but with so many new maps to play on my regular server I think I'll have to play it. That in addition to all the other fixes, particularly the ones for support of more than 2GB of ram. The current version of BF2 didn't like my sig rig since it was too fast in loading.

Well, they are adding the maps from the booster packs, but they didnt say anything about the weapons did they? So it isnt all bad for those of us who paid for the booster packs years ago, lol.

Edit: Hmm, never mind, oh well, I stopped playing BF2 a couple years ago anyway.

Boost packs were Euro Force and Armored Fury, those were just extra vehicles and maps. The one that gave us new weapons was Special Forces Expansion Pack that is still NOT free.

Definitely a reason to chill on ARMA 2 and play this again for a few nights to check it out.

Definitely interested in the widescreen support.

Definitely one of the best PC games ever made.... still going strong 4 years on!!!! AND making patches still??? What other game can really claim that..(beside WoW maybe?).

Cool...

...and wow, I don't think anyone anticipated the two booster packs being included for free. Good move, EA, good move...for once.

actually a LOT of people was expecting to get the booster packs for free. there were tons of threads in the ea uk forums about it.

Not true, you could unlock the P90 and L96A1 with Euro Force, and use them in battlefield 2. Wonder if people will get them as well.
