But... but... but.. the alpha was so unoptimized! How come the ALPHA is different from the final release? When the alpha ran poorly, I said I would never buy this game because of how poorly it ran. Why can't we, the "super smart" posters on a tech forum, understand than an alpha is completely different than a final release?! What a huge surprise!

All these car games don't seem to get it, excluding Gran Turismo and old Forza ( latest forzas list was a joke too ). I mean, I understand the average person who is only half into cars probably wants to play with famous new fast cars, but these games keep neglecting the actual average real car enthusiasts. The car list sucks... I mean don't get me wrong I love play with some new fast modern cars, race cars, ect, but what about the cars that most tuners can actually afford, or actually are commonly tinkered on?

I don't buy Gran Turismo to race Ford GT's, I buy Gran Turismo to race my real life 3rd gen supra vs my best friends real life 2nd gen RX7. I am not remotely excited for this beyond a graphics test.

But hey that's just my opinion.

Well i played the alpha at the nvidia event at e3 last month and it was buggy at times. Randome freeze, some stutering but overall it was doing well. Maybe because it was using a G sync monitor or idk what was going on. But for the little time i played, it ran really well. I actually like the game alot and ill probobly end up picking it up on release day.

Now, at the Nvdia event, they also had the demo displayed on 3x 4k hdtvs and it looked really nice. It wasnt glitchy or anything when i was driving on Suzuka. Really clean and all. Wonder what difference did it make when i first played it on the G sync demo compared to non G Sync monitors/hdtvs....

But i do want a G sync monitor but i have no Nvidia card at the moment

I agree soo much with you. I'm still waiting for a game where I could race "normal" car around a track.

I think you need to separate "racing enthusiast" and "car enthusiast".

I agree that it's awesome to see what you could do with your real life car, but the biggest attraction for me is just getting as close as I can to driving Le Mans.

The game is called "Project Cars", not "Project Racing".

Project cars in real life are exactly the type of cars that car enthusiasts like, and exactly what I'm talking about. Just wish it was more about the cars than the racing, as we have a million racing sims full of the same type of unaffordable cars.

This 100%.

That's why I actually started up with track days and I'm loving it now. My own car on a REAL racetrack blows away any simulator setup I've seen shy of 30,000 and when the car cost me $8,200 and was my daily for a year first I have a lot of money left to play with on $200 track days before I'm even touching a really good simulator.

Why is it odd? HD 4850 is not supported by AMD anymore. HD 5770 is slower then HD 4870 1GB for example.

God I would like to have a track an a good car but with my Toyota Yaris 1.5L Base, I don't think I could have fun at track. Maybe if I stick a turbo in it... forget that

, I need a new car

You can always start off doing dirt cheap autocrossing on a dirt cheap car. Mazda Miata is a $2k car that will give you some amazing fun autocrossing.

I will finish school first, get a job, and make a project car, bring it to track. That is the plan. Maybe the yaris will be the project car since I love to get hate from people XD

Not necessarily. I just bought a new car for a daily and will be turning my old daily into a dedicated track car. It's nothing special in the world of performance though. It's a 2005 Opel Corsa C SRi 1.8. It puts out 92kw (125hp), tops out at 195km/h and weighs about 1080kg. It is still completely stock aside from a rear sway bar, a short shifter and some performance street tires (Kumho KU31s).

I am far from a professional driver, but around Wakefield Park racetrack here in Australia I can keep up with some of the other showings like Civics, Subaru BRZs, MX5s in stock or mildly modded form after just 2 track days. I've had an instructor drive it too and he's able to overtake them quite readily.

Here's a video clip of one of my most recent sessions. As I'm sure you'll see I'm still very new and have a lot to learn.

The yellow MR2 was being driven by a pro driver who won fastest front wheel drive in his Integra DC2 at last years World Time Attack and the White Civic Type R is his workshop's rental that can run 1:05 laptimes with him behind the wheel. My best was a poor 1:21.42.

Classic example of a car and its driver being in tune and performing well. Hell some of the best track cars are low-horsepower lightweight cars. Lotus Elise anyone?

Anyway, I'm still waiting for Project Cars. Hopefully it'll get a lot more cars. I honestly would like a blend of GT and Forza. Some tuner cars and supercars, so I can drive a Toyota Supra around a track (dream car <3) one moment and hop in a McLaren P1 another. Best of both worlds.

CARS is an acronym for "Community Assisted Racing Simulator"

And their first description of the game says:

Well then, I guess its assisting a community isn't the hardcore car enthusiast? I guess I don't get it then, they can join the countless others with the same exact goals.

I agree 100% that is what I was trying to illustrate. I also forgot to mention that a car doesn't have to be fast for you to be having an absolute blast out on the race track. Throwing something small around on the limit is a lot more fun than gingerly driving a Ferrari around a track being careful to never risk a mistake by approaching the limit.

A cheap car can be fun for a long time before you approach a top end simulator package in costs.

The game was funded in a similar manner to Kickstarter except the backers get a % of the profit from game sales. There are no other major PC titles in the simcade bracket for PC. Xbox has Forza, Playstation has Gran Turismo, and Project Cars will be the main simcade for PC. I realize it is coming out on PS4 and Xbox One, but the pre-alpha has been on PC for years.

If you want normal cars maybe you should learn how to mod and make them for Assetto Corsa. Some of the earliest mods are normal cars like a Seat Ibiza, Subaru BRZ, Honda Civic, VW Golf, and others. It even has a Reliant Robin mod. Some other every day cars in the works are a Honda Fit, MX-5, Tesla Model S, 240z, and a Toyota Celica. Most people want supercars in their games. If I wanted to drive my normal car on a track I could, but I will never have a chance to drive supercars or racecars in all likelyhood.
