So I tried to install the EK Coolstream XE 480mm radiator with the top drop-in mount for the Caselabs Merlin SM8 case, but it seems that it wont fit correctly due to clearance issues with the radiator being mounted on the bottom of the drop-in mount and the case chassis being in the way.

The only way I can get the radiator to fit is to create a gap using longer screws and washers. This will probably create a gap of maybe 8-9 mm for the pull fans. The push fans are attached directly to the underside of the rad. Will this gap between my pull fans create any sort of noticeable temp difference?

I dont think I can use a fan shroud because the drop-in mount lies in between the pull fans and the radiator, I need to specifically create a gap between the rad and mount so that it clears the case chassis because the radiator protrudes out the long ends.

On the other hand I just realized I may be able to solve the problem by mounting the radiator as if I wasn't using the drop-in mount. This may reduce my 8-9mm gap to possible 5-6mm.

Works great if you don't mind it looking like rubbish, but of course a utility knife and some meticulous installation can make it look good as well.
