It's hard to tell. WD may have factories in both locations. Do you have the drive in hand? Is there any reason for you to believe the drive you posted isn't genuine? Are you having issues getting it to work?One is made in China, and the other in Malaysia. Any significance?

Did it come with anything extra? Or have any extra features?I went up to my local MC looking for the 1TB SN850 model, WDS100T1X0E, because that's what was advertised on their web page. Walked out of the store and had a different model in my hand and even though it was a 1TB SN850 the model number was WDBAPY0010BNC.
