8gb 1600MHz CL9 (9-9-9-24) vs 8gb 2133MHz CL11 (11-11-11-30)?

Will there really be that much difference between the 1600MHz and 2133MHz when not benchmarking? And is it worth the extra money for the 8gb 2133MHz but at CL9 (9-9-9-24)?

what do you use your pc for mostly? that will surely help answer

I'm asking for someone else, here's their quote.

" Well now just normal stuff but I want it to be a beast, gaming, task work, so i want it to run quick and process fast"

I asked what task work was and I got.

"just off top ofmy head password cracking software you need good power to get it done fast"

ive heard that higher bandwidth is better for applications that need to use large chunks of data for each calculation, like gaming and apps which have alot of info stored in the cache. Aparently gaming is smoother with high bandwidth ram. The thing is that processors have such high clock cycles these days that the timings are becoming less important as opposed to the amount of bandwidth can be used for each cycle. (more instructions can be fed to the processor with each clock cycle crunch - kinda ruff explination)

basically I got a set of corsair domminators a few weeks ago that where rated 1600 8-8-8-24. this is supposed to mean a maximum transfer rate of 12800mb per sencod

I was able to get the ram running at 2000mhz but with 10-10-10-30, which in memtest says im now getting 1600mb per second, which is obviously much better. I have also been getting a few higher gflops for my clock speed than i was using 1600 8-8-8-24, and everything generally feels much better and faster

just my experience, i could be wrong

Ram is fast enough as it is so you wont really notice the difference in regular use gaming and most of the time the data speeds will be bottlenecked by the harddrive. For password cracking software I think you need more of CPU or multithreading power but you can also use GPU power to do that which in itself is way faster than CPU. (example: 3-4days CPU crack = 14-20min GPU, ymmv).

Can look up online to see rough benchmarks:

AFAIK computational tasks are mostly cpu intensive.. there would be much difference between the two for your tasks

i may have been a wee bit too impulsive without considering variables
hey..i think maxxmem would be better..
win 7 sp1
currently at stock (only have stock cooler until my water project lol)

i have some maxMem results somewhere

88Gflops with yours to 77Gflops with me, hmmm

edit is playing up lol

People are reporting between DDR3 2200-2500 out of those sticks, or 7-8-7-21 at 1600.
Dude, fight club rules! Haha just kidding, those sticks rule.

The difference between the speeds are not noticeable unless (like someone said so awesomely before) you are superhuman.
Go ahead and fight over them. I've got 32GB of those coming my way already, so I could care less.

Hey pioneer will you be using them on your sig board?
I'll be using them on the same board, but in a different machine. Still waiting on an i3 for it.

I will more than likely test them out in my sig rig though, just because I like toying with new things.

Tigerdirects free shipping is as fast isn't?

The free shipping I think was 7-10 days, not sure. I don't mind, better than paying for shipping to save a few days. I've already got DDR3-2200 out of 1600 sticks, I can wait to test these out.

I've got 32Gb as well, but not the board yet. I'm thinking about X79 (ASUS X79 Deluxe)...

What sticks did you get 2000 out of? I have 24Gb of the G.Skill RipJaw DDR3 1600 Cas 8 Blue sticks, and I can't squeeze anything out of them...

The 1600 CAS8 blue sticks suck. I sold those at half what they cost new on CL, just to get rid of them.

I've got the 9-9-9-24, 1.35v blue Ripjaws. 4x4GB of them. To get 2200 out of them, it takes 9-11-10-28-2T, and 1.675v. 2133 runs fine at the same timings with only 1.65v with my sticks. Your miles may vary.

The CAS8 sticks that you've got, I had those same ones...and I couldn't break past about 1650 with them at 8-9-8-24, 1.65v. Didn't matter timings or volts, they just would not budge past that. Shot them with 1.75v...no go. Timings to 12-14-12-32...no go. 1866 would not go at all.
