An OCed 9600GSO:
511pt: 2900ppd
353pt: 4300ppd

An OCed 9800GT:
511pt: 3500ppd
353pt: 5700ppd

so it looks like the 9600gso is comparable to the 9800gt in terms of avg ppd? keep in mind I can get the 9600gso for about half the price of a 9800gt

edit: you just changed it to 5700 ppd, hmmmm that's pretty good.

As other said PPT, the 192bit 9600GSO is better performance/price ratio because 9600GSO is around $50 right now. 9600GSO has two versions. One is 192bit/384mb DDR3/96SP and another is 256bit/512mb DDR2/48SP. The 192bit one is better and it is the same as 8800GS. Here is the one review may help. 9600GSO 192bit=8800GS 9800GT=8800GT

Yeah, sorry. I hit 3700 instead of 5700.

I would go with the GT, especially with them being $100 shipped with no rebates on newegg right now.

I would also consider this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814133246

Lol yeah I was like what? 4850? I think that was a 24 hour only deal on the 9800gt, the price went back up. Remember I am on a budget.

True, especially as it only requires a single 6 pin connector, versus the 9800GTX+ two 6 pin connector.

The BFG 9800GTX+ 1gb *tested in my sig* only requires a single 6-pin PCI-E

NVM then. Could have sworn I saw 2 pins on each of the cards.

I pulled the trigger and bought the 9600gso for $50 + shipping. I know the 9800gt is much better, but for that price I couldn't justify paying over twice the price for a few more ppd.

Heck that's a steal. It's not 50% less than a 9800GT in folding PPD. So that is fantastic.
