Going to be upgrading to this tomorrow. Will be used mostly for gaming and movie watching. What do you guys think? Is there a better monitor for a cheaper price out there? I really would like to get an ips panel. Going to be pulling the trigger soon.

Thanks! I saw this on dell.com for 380$ so i figured free shipping and 1 year extended warranty for 300$ is a great price

Just wondering if there are better monitors for that price. I know nothing about monitors and ips panels.

Alright that just pushed me over the edge! I'm getting it lol

Thanks for the help guys

Dont get me wrong. The 480 is a fantastic card for the price! got it for 209$ but i do see it hit pretty high v-ram usage on my 1080p monitor in skyrim and bf3. I just think that 1400p would make it so i would have to sacrifice settings.

no kidding. the 1.5gb vram really chokes beyond 1200p... Not to mention this thing can fry an egg from the inside out.

I have 2 of these screens and really love them. They are awesome screens as others have said, my only complaint is that they don't come in 3 packs for a cheaper price lol. Just about to get my 3rd one in the next couple weeks, cant wait.

You will love this screen, great buy.

I'm currently contemplating on whether I should pick up the U2412M. I recently bought myself an XL2420T but ended up sending it back as the colors were god awful even after I calibrated it. In terms of input lag, when it comes to gaming, would an average player like myself notice a difference between an IPS and that of a 2ms TN panel? Would there also be a major difference in Blu Ray's on an IPS vs a TN?

Some of the IPS monitors have extremely low input lag, because like most TN monitors, they don't really have any electronics inside to process the signal. Response time is of course not going to be as good as decent TN models. In fact a lot of the eIPS stuff has lower input lag than the fast 120 Hz gaming monitors.

However, some TN monitors have really bad reverse ghosting, so in effect the pixel responsiveness really is worse than some properly-overdriven IPS monitors.

You can see the input lag and pixel responsiveness for the U2412HM here (note some overshoot there, so some reverse ghosting...but not a terrible amount):

check around vs. BenQ XL2420T (typical fast 120 Hz TN) and an LG IPS235V (slower less-aggressive IPS)

Good purchase ITS OVER 9000!. I just picked up 2 of these myself. My company gets a discount through Dell.com, so I pulled the trigger. I had just bought 2 HP 2711x, but, at the right price for a better monitor IMO, and an IPS at that, switching those out for the Dells as well worth it. .Luckily I had a friend in the market for a new 27 inch monitor, so he bought one of those off of me.

I will have to get used to the AG, seeing as I have no desire to attempt its removal at this point. That may change in the future, but for now, I am happy .

Again, good choice.
