Hi

How long is the AIO cooler life span ?
I have extra one could not sell it not used for 3 years will it also degrade like used one ?
How to alert myself when cooler need to be changed ?

Thanks

Degrades a lot faster with use, mostly because of temperature.

Can I use car radiator coolant ?
Yes, but not all automotive coolants are equal. There are a lot of additives you want to avoid, namely 2-EHA, which will damage silicone gaskets. Phosphates and silicates are also best avoided in a PC cooling loop.

You can just use distilled water.
Most CLCs are copper blocks and aluminum radiators. Replacing the coolant in a mixed metal loop with just distilled water will probably result in corrosion issues before too long.

Two things that often degrade or kill AIO
1. pump running dry permeation
2. sediment build up

for 1. you can help this issue by properly positioning your AIO so that the pump is at the lowest point on the case.
2. this usually depends on the materials used to build the AIO (tubing, mixing copper and aluminum materials, etc...). you can help this issue by flushing and refilling the fluid.

My Corsair H80i lasted 9 years until I upgraded. Still works I believe. Never noticed any cooling degredation. This was cooling a 4670K then a 4790K. I would have expected some evaporation but it's cooling ability never seemed to decline. It's lying in a bag now hehe.

I have AIO die on me within 2 years. Most issues I had with Corsair AIO. The pump seems to die if you do a lot of boot cycles.

Having installed a couple dozen or so the answer is 3 months to 12 + years. Early corsairs and thermaltake 2.0's being the champs and late model corsairs being the duds.

Enermax Liqtech first and second generation died within 3-12 months, because there were algae living in the water, and it was not fixed in later release. The fix was to drain the AIO immediatelly and replace the fluid.

Contrary to that I still have R9 FuryX with AIO delivered by AMD/Sapphire. It should be ethyleneglycon. It started to bubble a bit after about 6-7 years but still works.

My Radeon VII is fitted with Alphacool AIO. I had to flush it once (distilled water and 8% vinegar), get a different liquid. Since then I have to add 1 and half syringes of the liquid each year as it permeates out from the loop. I guess that adding distilled water should be a better choice in the future.

Best I've had for longevity as well.

Car coolants are designed to manufacturer specs to inhibit corrosion of the metals used in the engine cooling. Some coolants might work but you have to do your research to make sure its specifically formulated for copper and aluminum. Car coolants also add anti freeze which can be corrosive to your tubing and some plastics, seals, etc...

Overall, not recomended.

You can just use distilled water.
Not with a copper block and Alu radiator.

When i took apart my aio for my suprim liquid x… the fluid smelled, felt and looked exactly like regular automotive conventional coolant. Suppose to be a coolermaster aio on those gpus.

My first Gen h100 is still going today lol. Even the Alienware pc from like 2007 AIO still going. If you take care of them they last a while.

The h100 is even layered with Liquid Metal.

So I've had the same Corsair H100i 77 for about 8 years now, I've never actually thought about changing the coolant.... this is embarrassingly eye opening, but my CPU still runs at 45-50c under load, I know it's time to re-apply thermal paste when I start hitting 55-60c+

I'm currently sitting "idle" at 34c avg

Nice , crazy how those h100 and h100i were so good. Now days Corsair AIO are 250 dollars and performs worse then a 130 dollar one.
