when i got FC4 i get no sound what so ever after the first cutscene.
I tried to update the sound drivers, but in vain.. the audio is still gone..

though my neighbour gets audio :S How come i don't get?

Edit: And why the heck does the game frequently alt tab itself to window mode? o_O

Same here, Seems to be a problem with dolby digital sound systems. When i disable DD, sound works ingame. But only in stereo. I have a Soundblaster X-FI USB with DD enabled and a Logitech sound system connected with TOS Link (optical)
Somebody mentioned that reducing the sampling rate of the soundcard to 16bit 48khz should work. I will give it a try tonight...

Never had ANY problems with other games with Dolby Digital...not even "free to play" titles.

@Sonarctica:
Do you mean you set it on 16 bit, 48,000 hz ?
I have the same problem. Tried both disabling Dolby Digital Plus, and changing the sampling rate to 16 bit, 48Khz, and I still got no sound.

EDIT: I actually finally got sound by choosing the lowest sampling rate in the advanced menu of my built in sound-card's settings). .

See this video, it gives the ultimate solution (3 solutions actually)

I had the same issue of "no sound after the intro", went through all the steps I could find including updating drivers, turning off Dolby, setting channels to 2 instead of 5.1, etc.

The only thing that workedwas installing an old DX Runtime from June 2010! Not sure how it got removed, but now I'm running 5.1 surround @24 bit 96000 hz with no issues! Hope this helps.

Link to DX Runtime...

I got the same problem with my X-fi 5.1 pro creative USB-soundcard. I tried updating the driver to the newest version and all different settings. I can only use 2 channel modus at the moment. Strange, because with the intro movie I could enjoy surround sound. I hope they fix this issue soon...

@Zuluking, I will try the DX Runtime tomorrow. Thanks for sharing the link!

FarCry 4 No Sound FIX
1- Go to the System32 folder and SysWOW64 ( If you have ) and delete THIS audio files " x3daudio1_0.dll to x3daudio1_7.dll " and "XAudio2_0.dll to XAudio2_7.dll".
2- Go in the game folder , Far Cry 4 \ Support \ Software \ DirectX and install a DXSETUP .
3 Restart the PC .
4- Play. Hope this helps .

No? I said i always use 24bit 48khz.

I got audio with 2.0 than 5.1 though. But it's not normal for a game to only support 2.0 audio and nor give off 2.0 as virtual surround for 5.1 setups..

So poorly developed. Had the same issue. Nothing helped.

Found this same issue on my Windows 10/RVE w/ Realtek audio through SPDIF. Nothing I could find would fix the issue, changing the sampling rate, speaker settings, dx install etc.

Installed my old X-Fi Titanium HD and everything works...

Feels strange having a sound card in there after trying to purge myself of PCIE sound cards...
