just looking for a COMPATIBLE m.2 drive for my Asus Sabertooth X99 to move Adobe Premiere and OS onto. Having difficulty searching for updated compatibility lists and suggestions for my specific motherboard.

Currently using the 840 EVO SSD. Just figured I could use an easy upgrade while I use the current SSD as the scratch drive when rendering. thx

It supports nvme only. So a 970 evo plus should work. Or any other nvme ssd. It shares bandwidth with the bottom x16 slot. So you can't use the bottom pcie x16 slot if you are using the m.2 slot.

Hi,
Any m series m.2 basically
I have a 970 evo 500gb in my x99 sabertooth now
I also have a 970 evo plus in my x299 could swap out no problem

All m.2 get warm so a heat sink is required no matter which you get x99 mother board is no hotter than x299
I added these to mine work pretty good little pricey but I don't mind it was this or pointing a fan directly at it
If you get one don't forget the 2-3 year warranty on it no telling how long the little fan will live.

I returned some XPG 8200 pro m.2's they were so off speed spec's
970's hit spec's no problem and of course samsung is second to none support wise.

One bad thing to think about on the sabertooth is the plastic shielding
I've removed all mine and have room for a good heat sink
The shielding may limit or actually prevent adding a heat sink so be prepared to point a fan of some size at it like a little 50-60mm or something.
