In the 2080TI Owner's Group OP post there is a TON of value add information beyond a list of every single card available. all the Q&A, undervolt/overvolt info, "which card to buy" things like that.

Will that type of write up join the 4090 OP post?

thanks (currently a 2080TI owner praying for a 4090 price cut in the next 6-9 months).

Depends on the game. Trky playing MS Flight in 4k. That's probably the best example; while I'd say the CPU isn't usually a huge bottleneck, going to a faster CPU will yield more frames in most cases. Even going from 13th gen intel to faster you will probably see frame increases in a lot of GPU@100% games at 4k
FS 2020 4K is my fav app and it typically gets well over half my game time budget in a given month. FS2020 used to be horrible re. CPU optimization (it would hammer one thread almost continuously at near 100%) but a gazillion patches later, it started to behave better. My 5950X still regularly maxes at 5050 to 5075 MHz on one core, but the latest patches combined with the improved DX12 beta for FS2020 and DLSS3 / Frame Insertion have literally transformed the whole thing ! :D ...At 4K max everything (including detail on 400/400) w/ DLSS3 and F.I. with DLSS on 'quality', it gets close to a consistent 120 fps even in trickier scenery such as flying low over a metro area.

I found though while my performance went from basically unplayable 4k high settings to a VERY decent 100-120 fps like you say - I flew around Manhattan yesterday and was at around 60 fps doing low altitude flying around the buildings. This is still really good considering the insane amount of objects in the area, have you tried this? Normally I fly around home or places that I'm familiar with from my pilot days and get very good frames, but Manhattan really is a compute hog for me.

Either way I went from almost never flying to flying a few times a week as a really great way to unwind because of the amazing work they have done optimizing this thing.

Works great here too with a CX OLED, with no stuttering. G-Sync + V-Sync ON and 116fps cap. Was true also for when the initial 4090 drivers did not properly engage G-Sync and the TV stayed in VRR mode (early 4090 days).
Tried V-Sync On and V-Sync Fast, V-Sync On seems to work a bit better but still a lot of stutters. I'll try frame capping next but the stutters are happening below 120 FPS anyway so not hopeful.

I usually don't buy brand new hardware because I don't want to be a beta tester. I bought new hardware and now I'm a beta tester. At this point for me the 3080 Ti is a much better gaming experience than the 4090. I don't have time to search the web trying to fix what Nvidia broke and testing all sorts of things out that may or may not help.

Is this a normal temperature 60-61 in PR with EKW and Strix? I think it not, the backplate don't even get warm?
No. Something is def wrong there. Perhaps poor contact?

Flying-too- low is my middle-name :giggle: ...if I would have a pilot license, I would have lost it by now...
I put some screenies (including NY) in the spoiler...the last screenie btw (120 fps via RTX 3090 going into space), obviously has less ground detail). A couple of quick points. Before the 4090 and DLSS3 / Frame Insertion patches for FS2020, the built-in fps counter at FS2020 and the LG C1 fps counter were basically matching (ie. w/RTX 3090)- but not anymore. I haven't downloaded the updated FS2020 SDK yet so don't know if that is fixed, but the older one doesn't seem to pick up the F.I. I have seen 120 fps on 4K max detail flying low in Manhattan w/DLSS3&F.I.

Also, I run a huge (200 GB) local rolling cache which helps a lot, as does a 1 Gbps up/down connection. Finally, I get better results with resizable_BAR forced on in FS2020. AFAIK, it is the CPU that does a lot of the ground detail calculations, but from what I've read, DLSS3 / F.I. offloads a big chunk of that to the RTX4K GPU. Compared to the original FS2020 which was a bit of a mess re. optimizations, it has come a long way, even with the DX12 beta 4K I now play exclusively.

LOL. This is just a regular 3840x1600 with no downsampling, but still :p

I jumped on the 4090 wagon and I'm really happy with it.
I found a Gainward/Palit 4090, so not the best VRMs.
I was wandering: what the maximum highest but safe bios the card can handle? I guess 600W is too much, right?
What will happen if I use a too powerful PL bios? Could I damage the PCB?
Thanks for sharing any useful info, I'm worried about frying the card...

I guess you don't do any VR? Last time I tried it on my 3090 it was still a hot mess. Framerates were a lot better but still juddery. I need to fire it up on my current rig though. I've upgraded the CPU and GPU since last I tested it.

And is that a drone in your pics? Is that built in or an add on? I bought a couple of additional planes at one point.

...no VR, it tends to make me feel a bit queasy - besides, I sit really close to that 48 inch OLED...the way I tend to 'fly', that's all the immersion I can take :sneaky:

The 'Volocopter' is sort of an electric helicopter (two seats) in real life produced in Germany for air-taxi fleet orders...in FS2020, it has been around since about two patches ago. Note though that even on unlimited fuel settings, it will eventually run out of juice in FS2020. The Volocopter is perfect for exploring all the nooks and crannies - be that in a cityscape at ground level, or a mountain range.

Yea the big monitor gets it closer to VR immersion but still really isn't close. I don't get sick, but I do find the comfort level to be a problem for longer sessions. Really only want an hour or 2 at most per session.

I'll have to get it updated this weekend and look for the Volocoptor. It would be great for exploring which is what I do mostly anyway. Like @alasdairvfr mentioned, I have a tendency to fly places I've been to, etc... to check out the view from the sky and see how well the game renders the area.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but I have the 'Premium Deluxe' version of FS2020 which may/may not have some extra aircraft included. The latest patch also added a regular small helicopter that I haven't even tried yet, but it could also be good to explore local nooks and crannies...I also tend to gravitate towards places I know and have been to (below on a flight back to my home on a route from the East I know well). Still, going to new places is also a lot of fun, especially with a 4090 setup.

I got my TUF non-OC at MSRP, but damn it is bad, 3030Mhz core clocks in games and just +1100 on VRAM. Probably it isn't binned at all, also coil whine is horrible. +1500VRAM is probably the average overclock though.

Damn nice comparison, the difference between 450W and 630W is so small, even at that higher resolution.
Yes i know how you feel, but you loose some and you win some, my core still maxes out at 2900mhz 1.1v but the vram does better, don't forget tho it's still a 4090 and it's probably just 1-2fps difference between good settings and max oc.
