Got a new problem on my waterblocked 6900xt Red Devil. Everything hardware accelerated slows my computer to halt, and also start producing visual artifacts. Can be browser, Steam etc. but if I run Steam as an Admin and unable HW Acceleration on browser, they work fine. Games and Timespy runs fine, haven't done long-term testing yet.

What happened: I moved to a new place, and took my loop apart for the move, including GPU out and radiators etc. One thing I did was tightening the CPU block screws (they have washers) quite a bit, hoping to get better temps once reinstalled. Maybe I cracked the board while at it?

I googled a bit and once your board is cracked, then there's no going back, it will go bad over time, and that is it. I'll still ask though: Would it help anything if I were to loosen the screws?

I've done the usual: Prime95 Small FTs, Memtest86, reseated RAM, reseated GPU, ran Timespy, took temps and all looks good. Tried a couple of games, all work flawlessly (at least the first few minutes).

Any assistance on this? Should I just prepare myself for the loss of 1200€ + 200€ block, and simply get ready to buy a new GPU?
...I don't quite understand the part about 'Games and Timespy runs fine, haven't done long term testing yet' in the above summary and context (end of first paragraph). You mean they work as long as hardware acceleration is turned off ?

In any case, reseating the GPU block and carefully tighten (but not overtighten) the screws again is worth it. If that doesn't work, google 'baking your GPU' to reflow the solder - it can work re. cracked traces. But this has to be done carefully re. max temps in the oven (even toaster oven), and make sure there are no plastic parts exposed. A bit more on that > here. There are also folks who repair GPUs professionally for a fee. Check > here .

Finally, I would also check CPU and RAM seating along with cables since you moved the computer recently. May be even reload Windows (stranger things have happened).

Reset MB BIOS - take everything back to stock. Reset your GPU overclocks/overvolts to stock. (if you want take pics of your various settings so you can reproduce)
How does everything perform at stock?

Thanks for the replies.

(SOLVED !!!)

UPDATE FINAL: DDU'd the drivers and did a factory reset, and went back to recommended 22.5.1 and now everything works perfectly. Warning for you guys, latest two drivers are crap!

Problems start, however, when I launch steam app itself, the moment it is online and gets to the place where GPU is needed (the store display) my computer grinds to a halt, mouse and keyboard become unresponsive, some visual artifacts are displayed. Same happens when browsing on Opera facebook or any website that uses Hardware Acceleration. For example on FB when I scroll the feed, it works fine until a video shows up with a play sign, then it nearly crashes the computer and display driver crashes as well. If I scroll down really fast, it stops at the HW Acceleration needed part and crashes the driver but starts working again when I am somehow able to scroll past it (takes 5-10 seconds as mouse is not responsive.) Same happened with the previous driver I had installed before moving, and after moving installing the new ones (tested last two drivers). Tested also stock settings for both CPU and GPU and UV and OC settings. Same symptoms.

EDIT 1: I will also try and reinstall windows, it has certainly become a bit bloated, and maybe something weird happened when I took all the parts out and reinstalled.

EDIT 2: Also, now that I think about it, I actually had problems with youtube playback and HW acceleration before this. The graphics driver would crash randomly when for example putting youtube in full screen. The screen would flash and go black for a second. I also hear this windows sound when it crashes now, the same as you'd plug in a new USB stick for example (recognizing a new device.) I'm going to do a full GPU driver wipe and reinstall.

(I'll leave the issue description below in case someone has the same problems. All started from simply reinstalling the loop, and this is just a driver problem)
To clarify, so when running games and Timespy normally, they work just fine. Temps are normal as well. I didn't have time to test them too long, just a few runs of Timespy and ran here and there in Elden Ring with unlocked fps. Tested Cyberpunk with RT on, and no problems occured at all, temps are normal as well.

Question. My 6900xt seems to give me headache. Timespy Daily gpu score 25000. Firestrike 70000. But for some reason i only get 11800 in port royal. Is there some magic tricks for that benchmark or isnt 2800 avg boost enogugh to go past 12000??? Tryed to go 2850boost but just crashes even though timespy and firestrike runs just fine

Port Royal had a pretty hefty performance loss with the latest drivers for me, ~300 points less compared to 22.3.1, so 12000 should be doable for you with 22.3.1 ;)

Hello everyone,

Can you help me? I recently got a rx 6900 xt asus tuf oc, I haven't had this brand for a long time. That's why I have doubts.

I downloaded the more power tool, I'm doing tests to get the best performance consuming less and with good temperature, I can't get anything beyond 2700 mhz even with overclock. Now I'm at about 2500 mhz stable with voltage at 1.1 would that be good or could it be improved? Any valuable tips?

Is it worth changing the bios to another card? Thank you all.

It's a XTX chip thats why you cant go over 2700. Even tho you change your VBIOS it doesnt matter. You cant flash LC&KXTX BIOS to your card. Because XTX chips are kinda suck.

You just need to put 400w limit in mpt and set to default 1.2v as the xtxh card Then you should easy could go 2800 stable all day Long 👍

I'm testing at 2500-2550 stable with 1.08v, would that be good?

Timespy with these settings, Graphics Score 22 227

Can I improve something? I have memory at 2150 too.

Asics Quality 83%

If the temps arent to High you Can up voltage and watt limit more and set boost even higher. My 6800xt on Air with repaste did 21950 just shy of 22000. But it was still with junction only around 94c. So there actually was 16c before throttling. So you should if temps allows it hit around 23000 pretty easy. But it might be unstable at higher clockspeeds with such low voltage (if thats what u put into mpt) if u thinking about the driver its more like a offset

You actually have a decent XTX card I have a reference model and cannot do any where near what you get but I am on stock cooling so...

Speaking of Asic quality. I've tried a fair few different 6950 XT Toxics now. They are all lower asic (sub 84%) compared to 6900 XTXH. All of them have clocked worse than the various 6900 XTXHs I've had.

The fastest combination would be 6900 XTXH, flashed with the Liquid Cooled MBA 6900 XTXH BIOS for increased memory frequency.

6950 XT has a higher default power limit and faster memory vs the 6900 XTXH, but once you flash that Liquid Cooled MBA 6900 XTXH BIOS, increase the power limit via MPT, it should become faster overall.

So the XTXH die is actually better binned than a 6950 die but the 6950 just has the faster memory. I wonder would they release a 6950 XTXH so faster die along with the better memory but it's probably far too late for that now with new cards due out sometime in the future.

just tryed cod mw with radeon super resolution 1080p --> 1440p high settings for the sake of fun take a look, btw dont judge my gameplay i suck xD, im more like a csgo guy u know

but surprised to see it run mostly above 300fps at high 1440p upscaled..

Interesting findings on the 6900xt vs the 6950xt.

I have been flying MSFS 2020 with a 5900x/RX6800 combo and had almost leaped to the 6900 when the 6950xt was released. Was able to snag an AMD reference 6950XT from their store for retail. I applied an EK waterblock to it (same as the 6800).

Very solid card and no need for me to overclock as it is very powerful even for MSFS 2020. I am using a Samsung 49" widescreen 5120x1440. Can run on ultra settings without stuttering.

Here is my best one!
Its an old score
Stock voltage 1.2v and 450w via mptool

How do u gain that much by only avg 2769mhz ?? Any special driver ? Any mpt tweaks etc ? I only gain 25400 But at the cost of 1.250v and 500w limit and all deep sleep off and with 2140mhz memory fast timing. You do even higher at lower voltage lower clockspeed etc. Mine avg was 2830 and boost set to 2882mhz.
