I finally broke 24K graphics score in Timespy I scored 22 640 in Time Spy.
That was achived with max freq. setting of 2805 MHz. and min freq. setting of 2700 MHz. The memory frequency was set to 2100 MHz. anything higher and it would not finish. Based on GPU-Z the max Chip power draw was 400 W. The MPT power/current settings are 420, 400, 70. I had RS set to +10% power.
Also yesterday I applied LM to the GPU and Cold plate of the WB. This reduced the delta to under 20 deg C between GPU temp and Hot Spot temp. I had been seeing deltas of 30 deg C plus. It also appears to have droped temps overall between 8-10 deg C.

Well done, that is exactly the same graphics clocks (2805/2705/2100Mhz) i managed with my Toxic and our (graphics) scores are a ball hair apart. :)
AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT video card benchmark result - AMD Ryzen 9 5950X,ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO (3dmark.com)

Perhaps our GPUs were separated at birth?

Good job on the re-paste. I have not rerun my tests since doing mine which improved my delta also, however I don't expect it to make any difference to my score.

What is also interesting is that when the test fails back to the main window and I check the max frequency captured by GPU-Z it is above the max freq, set in the RS. So, this tells me that there still is some kind of issue with boosting algorithm in the driver. I have seen this behavior in the past but did not think much about it at the time. I'm paying more attention to it after watching a Buildzoid youtube video where this happened to him as well. You would think that it would be simple to ensure that the driver does not allow the GPU clock to exceed the max set value.

Oh I almost bought Kryonaut, but as everyone recommended I went for Hydronaut again. I thought I had some, but I used it up for the CPU. I think I will just add a whole lot more of it, and I have to think if I will use only three washers, or all seven, because the X screwholes already have three pre-installed.

I also have the issue of spilling 1.5 month old corsair coolant from the loop on the motherboard’s Vram and capacitators (maybe two small spoonfuls), but I soaked the spots with 99% IPA and put under natural sun after it evaporared. I should probably take the whole mobo out to hang it upside down, but I gave it the electric air duster treatment and could not at least see any moving water anywhere. Just in case, I’ll let it rest 72hrs and hope the water evaporates. I’m sure the mobo is fine because the PC wasn’t hooked up, but just in case.

Watercooling is lovely! You get to wait three days and, while at it, can go in the nature, watch movies, and read books!

Meanwhile, I’m going to wait opinions on the 6900xt waterblock reassembly, washer usage and paste application based on the photos before I put it together. The GPU is waiting on my desk, but I want to hear the smart people’s opinion here. I have three days before I start soloing again.

If I was working and this happened, I’d be stressed out of my mind, but am on a holiday this is just about switching gears… ha!
With my red devil ultimate I left the black washers as they seemed glued on, and I just used the washers that came with my wb where there wasn't a black one. I wouldn't stack washers on top of the pre-installed ones.

I can seem to get over 2810 with my card.

Why is my graphics score so low? People are getting 23000-24000. Im on 21.7.1 drivers. My mpt settings are minimum soc voltage 950, TDC SoC limit 63, power limit 375 watts. Minimum frequency is 2450 and maximum frequency is 2600. 2630 mhz maximum frequency crashes didnt try 2610-2620. Is there a way I could improve this score?

2300-2400 are using 2700+

fyi for those who like to replace thermal pads on their GPU, Igor's lab has some neat comparisons re. different W/mK on GDDR6X VRAM. Results for GDDR6 (ie 6900XT) might be slightly less dramatic, but still...

How much are they saving using 3w pads? Probably have to do it for my 3080 TUF as memory does run hot.

Hey gang!

Beautiful GPU! I have circled the areas that related to the two issues that I believe you were having:
  • Uneven mount will cause patterns like this, where one end of the card (where the mount gap is too wide) will have a lot of wet/smooth paste, where the other end will have patterned, dry paste where most of it squished out, and the rest of it "pumped out"
  • Thin paste moves around a LOT when it's at the mercy of a GPU die capable of chewing through 350W+ just itself. I personally feel like the thinner, oil based paste exacerbated the problem above.

You +rep'd my post on thermal paste choice; I really appreciate that, all of you!. Once you have your mount worked out, it may be worth your time to consider a different paste, too!

edit I see you got Hydronaut, excellent!

Also this!

So repast done on my toxic extreme. This card is about easiest ever to expose GPU Core, still heart in mouth till it booted. Delta between core and Hotspot dropped from 35 degrees to 19 to 21 degrees. Finally broke and past 23k graphics test.
Yes it was really easy to do sounds like you got near identical results to me with my Toxic Extreme.

Was your paste completely dry like mine? Wish I had taken some pics now, wonder how many Toxics are all dried out.

That's unforunate to hear that Sapphire may have cheaped out on thermal compound on their ultimate GPU. But, Hydronaut, GC-Extreme, or another great compound will get you there!

To be fair it appears to be the normal really thick clay like paste most AIBs use. It always seems to dry out really quickly not sure why.

I actually wish Sapphire had used the Thermal pad found on the MBA and Radeon VII cards. No need for maintenance then.

It looked dried, mine there was so much of it. I used some kryonaut.

I am somewhat impressed with the tool kit that came with the card. That is nice.

Tonight I will try pushing it again. I know my 10900k can do 5.4 all core for a timespy run. Now to figure out what settings my card likes and doesn't. The run after repast I was able to do 2124 on memory with tight timings. Still had card now clocked as high and voltage cut to 1.175. So hoping to get near or break 24k graphics score.

My latest score on TS. 6900XT Red Devil w/ Alphacool waterblock.

2650MHz Max, 2550MHz Min.

CPU locked at 4.8GHz all core.

Average GPU frequency is around 2560MHz for entire run.

How does the GPU and CPU score stack with other people ?

Happy days: as a result of the tips I got + changing flow direction as per the GPU waterblock instructions said + repasting the CPU, I've got a loop that is much much better. The 6900xt edge/junction delta is 15-20C now in TS GT2 (fresh run, probably moves to around 20-25C over time), and the max peak I saw was 67C junction, edge was at 48C (dropped from 105C junction, and 65C edge). CPU temps dropped 8C as well. I also hit a new TS record due to lower temps allowing more OC headroom (edited this post four times due to going past record scores.)

Now this is what I expected from watercooling, incredibly happy! Thank you all so much for the help!

^ Excellent result.
Thanks dude. Its kinda disappointing that I can't do any higher than 2650MHz max on the core. Seen others hit 2750 or higher...
